The Not-So-Secret Way to Make 1099s EASY
If you’ve ever hired a contractor for your business, you probably already know what a 1099 is, and that filling them out last minute can be nerve-wracking. In today’s video, certified bookkeeper Tasha Yao walks you through the simple things you can do to make managing 1099s for your business easy!
The first and most important thing to do to make 1099s easy is to send all contractors you work with a W-9 first. This form is an information request form meant to collect all the information business owners need from their contractors to correctly fill out a 1099 on their behalf.
If you haven’t already, we recommend that you require all contractors to submit a complete and accurate W-9 before receiving payment so that you don’t have to scramble to collect that information as January 31st, the filing deadline for 1099s approaches.
