IRS Grants Tax Relief to Texas Storm Victims—New Deadline: Feb. 2, 2026!

As expected, President Trump has declared areas of Texas, including Kerr County, federal disaster areas. Individuals and businesses affected by storms that began July 2, 2025, now have until Feb. 2, 2026, to file returns and make tax payments that would have been due on or after July 2. This includes returns with valid extensions to Oct. 15, 2025. However, taxpayers with extensions don’t have extra time to make payments. Affected taxpayers can claim disaster-related casualty losses on 2024 or 2025 federal income tax returns. Those outside the declared disaster area who suffered storm damage can call IRS Special Services at 866-562-5227 to request relief. For more: https://bit.ly/4nJeu6x.
